I have recently become a victim of BC's failing medical system.However I know I live in the best country in the world,I have awesome friends,the sweetest pair of cats,a roof over my head,and food in the cupboard.And some day my injury will be attended to and life will go on.Breath deep and smile.

Cheers everyone, new to this site so still finding my way around. I live in a small town about 30 west of Ottawa.  I am blessed to live on a farm with my family, and my family farm is just down the road. 

Getting very excited about the olympics..go Canada go.

I don't believe that I say aboot either however my best bud who moved to the US and has lived there now for 10 years says she can hear it when I, and other Canadians, speak. She claims it is subtle but there.

I used to work as a freelance reporter for an American mag and interviewed many Americans. I never felt that my Canadian-ness was an issue. As a matter of fact, interviewees who had visited here always told me about their experiences with Canada in a very positive way.

I do enjoy noting the differences between Americans and Canadians and coming up with my grand theories of how these differences developed. I think I find differences among us more fascinating than similarities.

About spelling, are you able to get your spell checks put onto Canadian English? I know it's possible with some programmes. Not all, though, unfortunately. :(

Chibi Jeebs, I can totally relate to you about how you feel when you add the Canadian version of things to the dictionary - way to go! :D

I talk to Americans on the phone all day for a living and am conscious of emphasizing the !OW sound, but I still get outed as a Canuck.
Not that I'm not fiercely proud of being Canadian, but I know they value me less and my advice if they know I am .

I swear I don't either, but then I'm tone deaf. I do notice that Americans say about to rhyme with how.

The phenomenon is known as 'Canadian raising' by linguists.
